Finnair releases summer schedule for Indian routes

Mumbai: Finland’s flag carrier Finnair, is out with its summer schedules to and from Indian cities. Currently, the airline is performing as per winter schedules by operating six and four flights a week from New Delhi and Mumbai respectively to Helsinki. Effective April 2009, Finnair will start functioning on the summer schedules wherein it will operate six flights a week from Mumbai to Finland, while flights from New Delhi will remain at six. But, in view of the impact of the global recession and uncertain fuel prices, the airline is considering to analyse the summer schedule before it starts functioning according to it.
Offering information on the new schedules, Seema Kadam, Client Manager, Finnair said, “Currently we are having about 75 to 80 per cent load factor of which 50 per cent comprises of business travellers. Since the trade ties between India and Finland are good, we have experienced minimal impact of global recession. But, in the coming summer, we are not sure if increasing the capacity will help increase the demand on the Mumbai route. Thus, we are analysing the situation at the moment and will finalise the schedules as early as possible. As of now, the summer schedule is fixed and sent to travel trade for early bookings.”
